He began his journey into the world of martial arts at the age of nineteen, taking part in a free aikido program in Michigan with coach Chad Pomeroy. From there, his career quickly took off, and five years after turning professional, he became the UFC champion.

His opponent, Khalil Rountree, is nicknamed "War Horse" due to his prowess in the ring. With seven knockouts in his career, he ranks third in this indicator in the UFC light heavyweight division. Rountree grew up without a father and was overweight, but was inspired by a TV show about fighters and decided to change his life. Six years later, he was fighting for a spot in the UFC on the finale of the show "The Ultimate Fighter". In 2017, Rountree scored a significant victory over Paul Craig at the UFC Fight Night tournament.

In addition to his fighting career, Khalil is interested in music and dancing, preferring the work of the group "Village People". In his free time, he spends leisure time with his dog Bruce. His unique fighting style and ability to inspire others make him a role model for young people.
